The mission of the FISU Student Ambassadors Programme is to unite students from across the world and to develop university sport. The aim is to create a permanent international cultural and educational platform to professionally train student leaders who will be capable of organising volunteer programmes in their National University Sport Federation to implement local or national projects to develop university sport. Demi has been selected to be on the FISU Student Ambassadors programme 2025/26, and will be representing the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland on the international stage, with other students across the world.
We caught up with Demi, and she had this to say “Being selected as a FISU Student Ambassador is a true honour and a milestone I am truly proud of. I am deeply grateful for the encouragement I received during my placement year to apply, which opened my eyes to the programme's impact on both personal growth and the wider university sports community. What drew me to the role was the chance to contribute to real change in university sport and I'm excited to now put ideas into action. I look forward to learning more about FISU in terms of the values, global influence and mission through the monthly offered webinars and discovering how I can align with and apply these principles. Being given the opportunity to create a project and action plan for my University will be a rewarding challenge, one that will strengthen my leadership skills and deepen our institution's connection to the international university sport movement. This feels like a pivotal moment not just for my development, but for placing the university on a more global, forward-thinking path. I'm especially thankful to the University of Surrey for giving me such a fulfilling experience and I'm eager to give back to the community that has given me so much.”
Charlie Mascall (Participation & Competition Sport Manager) shared why he put her forward “Demi’s commitment to sport is undeniably impressive, and I decided to send this opportunity to her since I believe this programme would be beneficial for her continued professional development. Demi goes above and beyond with everything she does and ensures that everyone involved in her delivery programmes have the best experience possible. We’ve been so lucky to have Demi as part of the team this year and we would love to see her on a programme like this to see her further develop whilst being a student at the University of Surrey.”
